Pixel 10 eSIM: which versions have a SIM tray?
Every Pixel 8, 9, 10 and 11 has eSIM. US Pixel 10 and 11 (not Fold or 10a) are eSIM-only. Model numbers, dual SIM and Japan, from Google's spec pages.

Yes: every Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a, 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, 10a, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL and 11 Pro Fold supports eSIM, in every country; US versions of the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL are eSIM-only (no SIM tray), and there is no Pixel 11a yet. That is what Google's Pixel tech specs page and the Google Store spec sheets said when we read them on 28 October 2026.
So for a Pixel the useful question is not "does it have eSIM?" but "does my version also take a nano-SIM, how many eSIMs can run at once, and which model do I hold?". Below: the answer per model, Google's model numbers (G-codes such as GUJ0N or GLBW0), the Japanese versions and the check in Settings. For the wider background, see our Google Pixel eSIM guide and the full Pixel models list.
Key takeaways
- All 17 Pixel models from the Pixel 8 to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold have eSIM. Outside the US, every one of them is "Dual SIM (Single Nano SIM and eSIM)".
- US Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL have no SIM tray: "Dual eSIM (two active eSIMs; stores 8 or more eSIMs)". The US Pixel 10a, 10 Pro Fold and 11 Pro Fold keep a nano-SIM slot.
- Pixel 7 and later can run two eSIMs at once if the carrier allows it. Check your model number in Settings > About phone > Model and your EID in About phone > SIM status.
Quick answer: eSIM on every Pixel 8, 9, 10 and 11
Each row gives Google's SIM wording, the regional differences and the model numbers Google publishes. "US" means a phone sold for the US market (Google Store US or a US carrier), wherever you use it now.

Every SIM row on these pages carries the same footnote: "Feature is carrier dependent. Not supported by all carriers or in all countries." The hardware is there in every case; whether a given plan works is up to the carrier.
Does the Pixel 10 support eSIM? Yes, and in the US it has no SIM tray
Yes, all versions. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL come in two SIM configurations, and the dividing line is the country they were made for.
- US models (Pixel 10 GLBW0, 10 Pro G4QUR, 10 Pro XL GUL82): the US Google Store spec sheet says "Dual eSIM (two active eSIMs; stores 8 or more eSIMs)". There is no tray. Google's eSIM help page is blunt: these US phones "don't use physical SIMs, and are eSIM-only".
- All other countries (Pixel 10 GK2MP, 10 Pro GEHN3, 10 Pro XL G45RY): the UK spec sheet and the UK Pro sheet say "Dual SIM (Single Nano SIM and eSIM)". The German, French, Spanish and Mexican Google Stores say the same in their language.
- Japan has its own model numbers (GL066, GN4F5, GYPW4), covered below.
The hardware decides, not where you are: a US Pixel 10 taken to Europe stays eSIM-only (no local nano-SIM, buy an eSIM plan instead), and a European Pixel 10 used in the US keeps its tray. Buying second-hand or importing? Check the model number first.
For travel, the US version holds two active lines (your home number and a data eSIM) and stores eight or more profiles. See our Pixel 10 series page for the full model card.
Pixel 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL: same split, new model numbers
Yes, all versions. Google started selling the Pixel 11 series in August 2026; its 25 August 2026 post lists four phones: Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The three non-folding models repeat the Pixel 10 arrangement:
- US: "[US]: Dual eSIM (2 active eSIMs; stores 8 or more eSIMs)" on the Pixel Help spec page, model numbers GPQQ7 (Pixel 11), G7SWN (11 Pro) and GBC0H (11 Pro XL). The US Store sheet for the 11 Pro and Pro XL uses the same wording.
- Rest of the world, Japan included: "[ROW]: Dual SIM (Single Nano SIM and eSIM)", model numbers GUJ0N, GM45K and G4HCD. The UK, German, French, Spanish and Japanese Store sheets agree.
One simplification compared with the Pixel 10: Google lists a single "ROW including JP" model for each Pixel 11, so the Japanese Pixel 11 shares its model number with the European one.
Pixel 11a: there is none yet. On 28 October 2026 the Pixel 11a spec address on the Google Store sends you to the home page in every country we tried, and the Pixel Help spec page has no 11a section. Ignore sites that already list its SIM setup. Our Pixel 11 series page will add it once Google publishes specs.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold and 11 Pro Fold: a nano-SIM tray even in the US
Yes, eSIM plus a nano-SIM, everywhere. The foldables are the exception to the US eSIM-only rule. The US spec sheet of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and that of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold both say "Dual SIM (Single Nano SIM and eSIM)", exactly like their UK, German and French sheets.
- Pixel 11 Pro Fold: one model number for the whole world, GZDQ6 (Pixel Help: "[Global]").
- Pixel 10 Pro Fold: GU0NP everywhere except Japan, GM66V in Japan.
- Pixel 9 Pro Fold (previous generation): nano-SIM + eSIM, GGH2X, or GC15S in Japan.
Google Store Spain and Google Store Mexico do not sell the 10 Pro Fold or 11 Pro Fold: their spec addresses lead to the home page. A Fold bought in another EU country works the same way in Spain. More on the folding models on our Pixel Fold page.
Does the Pixel 10a support eSIM? Yes, with a nano-SIM tray in every country
Yes. The US spec sheet of the Pixel 10a says "Dual SIM (Single Nano SIM and eSIM)", and so do the UK, German, French, Spanish and Mexican sheets. Unlike the Pixel 10, the US 10a keeps its SIM tray. Model numbers on Pixel Help: GE1GQ (US), GV0BP (Japan), G4H7L (rest of the world).
A word of caution about Google's own help text. The dual SIM help page says "[US only]: If you have a Pixel 10 or later, except the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, you can only use an eSIM." Read literally, that would include the 10a and the 11 Pro Fold. Their spec sheets list a nano-SIM, and the more specific help pages name only the Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL, so we follow the spec sheets.
The Pixel 9a is the same type of phone: nano-SIM + eSIM, model GXQ96 in the US, GTF7P elsewhere and G3Y12 in Japan, according to its Store spec sheet.
Pixel 9, 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL: eSIM and a nano-SIM in every region
Yes, all versions. The Pixel 9 generation has no eSIM-only version. On the Pixel Help spec page, the SIM row of the Pixel 9, 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL reads "Dual SIM (Single Nano SIM and eSIM)" with no regional exception, and every model-number block (US, Japan, Belgium, France, rest of world) ends with "eSIM".
| Model | US | Japan | Europe / rest of world |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 9 | G2YBB | G1B60 | GUR25 |
| Pixel 9 Pro | GR83Y | GWVK6 | GEC77 |
| Pixel 9 Pro XL | GGX8B | GQ57S | GZC4K |
These phones have left the Google Store, so Pixel Help is now the official reference. They support two active eSIMs, like every Pixel since the 7, and can take calls on both lines (see the dual SIM section below). Our Pixel 9 series page has the model card.
Pixel 8, 8 Pro and 8a: eSIM yes, Japanese versions included
Yes, all versions. Pixel Help lists "Dual SIM (Single Nano SIM and eSIM)" for the Pixel 8, 8 Pro and 8a, and each regional model number is followed by "eSIM":
- Pixel 8: G9BQD and GKWS6 ("For NA (US and CA) only"), GZPFO (Japan only), GPJ41 (rest of the world).
- Pixel 8 Pro: GC3VE (5G Sub-6), G1MNW (mmWave), GE9DP (Japan only).
- Pixel 8a: GKV4X (North America), G8HHN (mmWave), G6GPR (rest of world), G576D (Japan only).
Two Pixel 8-era details matter in practice. First, the SIM help page warns that "some older SIM cards aren't supported on Pixel 8 and later phones": if you see "This SIM is no longer supported", ask your carrier for a new SIM or switch that line to eSIM. Second, the 8 and 8 Pro cannot take a call on the second SIM while you are on a call on the first (it goes to voicemail); the 8a and later can. Details on our Pixel 8 series page.
Japanese and other regional Pixels
Japan is the one market where Pixels have their own SIM wording. The Japanese Google Store describes the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro Fold, 10a, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Fold and 9a as "γγ₯γ’γ« SIM ε―ΎεΏοΌnanoSIM x 1 γ¨ eSIM x 1) γΎγγ― (eSIM x 2οΌ": one nano-SIM plus one eSIM, or two eSIMs. In other words, a Japanese Pixel has a tray and can run two eSIMs. Japanese models also have FeliCa (Japan's tap-to-pay standard).
- Japan-only model numbers: Pixel 10 GL066, 10 Pro GN4F5, 10 Pro XL GYPW4, 10 Pro Fold GM66V, 10a GV0BP, 9a G3Y12, 9 G1B60, 9 Pro GWVK6, 9 Pro XL GQ57S, 9 Pro Fold GC15S, 8 GZPFO, 8 Pro GE9DP, 8a G576D.
- Pixel 11 series: no separate Japanese model; Japan uses the "ROW including JP" numbers (GUJ0N, GM45K, G4HCD) and the global Fold (GZDQ6).
- Older restriction, now gone: Google still notes that a Pixel 3a bought in Japan cannot use two SIMs and that Japanese Pixel 3 phones have no eSIM. Nothing like that applies from the Pixel 4 on: Google's help says "Pixel 4 and later: All phones work with eSIM."
Apart from Japan's numbering, the only regional difference that changes what you can do is the US tray removal.
Dual eSIM, eSIM + nano-SIM and how many profiles
Google's dual SIM help page sets the rules for every Pixel in this list:
- eSIM + nano-SIM: any Pixel 3a or later, in Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS).
- Two eSIMs active at once: "You have a Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, or later phone" and "Your carrier allows this feature". That covers all Pixel 8, 9, 10 and 11 models.
- Calls on both lines: on the Pixel 8a and later you can answer a call on the second SIM while on a call on the first (the first goes on hold). This requires mobile data on both SIMs, Automatic data switching turned on, and Wi-Fi calling on the second line. On the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, calls to the other SIM go to voicemail.
- Stored profiles: only the US eSIM-only spec sheets give a number: "stores 8 or more eSIMs". For other versions Google says only that "you can have multiple eSIM profiles on the same phone" (eSIM help). Our article on how many eSIM profiles Android phones store explains the limits.
To add a line, Google's path on Android 11 and later is Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM > Set up an eSIM, then pick your carrier or scan its QR code. Then choose which SIM handles calls, texts and Mobile data on the same SIMs screen. Step-by-step help is in our Android eSIM activation guide, and moving a line from an old phone is covered in how to transfer an eSIM between Android phones.
Carriers: Google's eSIM carrier list for Pixel includes AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Google Fi in the US, and EE, O2, Vodafone, giffgaff and Sky in the UK.
How to find your exact Pixel model and confirm eSIM
For the Pixel 10 and 11 (non-Fold), the model number tells you whether you have a tray. It takes under a minute:
- Model number: open Settings > About phone and scroll to Model (Google Store Help, find your device serial number and model). Compare it with the table above: GLBW0, G4QUR, GUL82, GPQQ7, G7SWN or GBC0H mean a US eSIM-only phone. The model also appears on the box.
- EID: open Settings > About phone > SIM status and look for EID (Pixel ID numbers). Google explains that "to use an eSIM, a phone also needs an EID": a 32-digit EID means the eSIM chip is there. Our EID guide has screenshots.
- Two IMEIs: a Pixel that takes both eSIM and a SIM card has two IMEI numbers, IMEI 1 and "IMEI (SIM slot 2)", both under About phone.
- Look at the edge: on Pixels with a tray, Google puts the SIM ejection hole on the left edge. No hole means the US eSIM-only version.
If "Add SIM" or "Set up an eSIM" is missing, the usual causes are a carrier lock or software that needs an update. Our missing eSIM option guide goes through each case. The free eSIM Check app reads the chip directly if you want a second opinion.
Next step: if you travel with a tray Pixel, you can keep your home SIM in the slot and add a travel eSIM; our guide to keeping your number while travelling shows the settings to watch. To compare with other brands, see the list of eSIM-compatible devices.
How we checked
On 28 October 2026 we read the Google Store spec sheet of each current Pixel in the US, UK, German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Mexican stores, and Google's Pixel Help pages: the hardware tech specs (which still cover the Pixel 8 and 9 after they left the Store), dual SIM, eSIM, getting a SIM or eSIM and ID numbers. Every model number in this article is copied from those pages; we give no number Google does not publish.
Where two Google pages differ (the broad "Pixel 10 or later" sentence versus the per-model spec sheets of the 10a and 11 Pro Fold), we follow the spec sheets and say so. We checked that the Pixel 11 series is on sale through Google's own announcement, and that no Pixel 11a exists yet. Third-party spec sites and eSIM sellers were not used as sources.
When the Pixel 11a or another model appears, we update this article and our device database.
