Egypt eSIM guide: prices, networks and setup

This page gathers everything eSIM Check has published about staying connected in Egypt: our own price survey of the providers, the independent speed measurements for the four networks, step-by-step installation, and the alternatives to an eSIM. Every figure is dated, and every article links to its sources.

Key facts

  • Egypt has four mobile networks: Vodafone, Orange, e& and WE (Telecom Egypt). WE is the fastest in Opensignal's February 2026 report (25.5 Mbps average download), but none of the well-known travel eSIMs we checked uses it.
  • Commercial 5G started on 4 June 2025 with all four operators. In late 2025 and early 2026, users still spent under 10% of their time connected to 5G (Opensignal, Time on 5G measure).
  • We found no independent source that publishes mobile speeds by city: Opensignal, Ookla, nPerf and the regulator NTRA report national figures only.
  • On 25 September 2026 (Airalo and Nomad: 1 October 2026), a week of unlimited travel eSIM data cost from €23.69 to €34 among the well-known providers; eSIM Γ‰gypte charged €33 on Vodafone, Orange and e&, cheaper than Holafly at every length, but with about 1 GB a day at full speed, prices above the market median and no top-up.
  • Tourists remain exempt from Egypt's phone customs fees for 90 days, after the general exemption for passengers ended on 21 January 2026 (NTRA).
