Jordan eSIM guide: prices, networks and coverage at Petra

This page gathers everything eSIM Check has published about staying connected in Jordan: our price survey of the travel eSIMs and the operators' visitor lines, the independent measurements of Zain, Orange and Umniah, what is really known about coverage at Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, and how to combine Jordan with Egypt. Every figure is dated, and every article links to its sources.

Key facts

  • Jordan has three mobile networks: Zain, Orange and Umniah. Almost every travel eSIM runs on Zain, which appears in 85% of the Jordan plans that name a network on the comparison database esimdb (16 October 2026).
  • In Opensignal's July 2026 report, Umniah was fastest (29.8 Mbps average download) and named Best Network, while Zain had the best coverage score (8.03 out of 10, just ahead of Orange at 7.96).
  • Unlimited Jordan eSIMs are rare: on 16 October 2026, Holafly sold 7 days for €26.50 and Yesim for €45, while Airalo, Nomad and aloSIM sold fixed data only. The median 7-day Jordan-only plan on esimdb cost €31.22.
  • Visitor lines cost far less per gigabyte: Umniah sold 35 GB for 10 days at JD 7 online, with a passport required (its 30- and 90-day lines are also sold at Queen Alia airport), and Orange 30 GB for 10 days at JD 10, both available as eSIMs.
  • No operator or regulator publishes coverage figures for Petra or Wadi Rum. On nPerf's crowdsourced maps, which show where users tested rather than guaranteed coverage, Wadi Musa has many Zain 4G and 4G+ tests, but very few tests are recorded around the archaeological site.
