Italy eSIM guide: travel eSIM prices, tourist SIMs and networks for non-EU visitors

This page gathers everything eSIM Check has published about staying connected in Italy: our price survey of seven travel eSIMs, the tourist offers of TIM, Vodafone and Iliad, and independent measurements of the Italian networks. If your SIM comes from an EU or EEA country, you do not need any of it: under the EU's roam-like-at-home rules you use your home allowance in Italy, within your operator's fair-use limit. These guides are for everyone else, from British and American travellers to visitors from Switzerland, North Africa, Latin America and the Gulf. Every figure is dated, and every article links to its sources.

Key facts

  • EU and EEA SIM cards roam in Italy at home prices, as the EU's Your Europe page on roaming explains; a fair-use limit may apply. A UK, US, Swiss or other non-EU SIM pays roaming, for example $12 a day with AT&T’s International Day Pass.
  • On 26 October 2026, Ubigi sold 7 days of unlimited Italy data for €19 and 30 days for €39, with 5 GB a day at full speed; Airalo charged €21.50 and €59.
  • TIM Tourist cost €14.99 for 30 days with 200 GB and unlimited calls in Italy, plus €10 for the SIM card; Vodafone's Dolce Vita Start cost €14.95 a month for 100 GB, for customers with a foreign tax code.
  • In Opensignal’s December 2025 Italy report, Vodafone users averaged 63.8 Mbps download, ahead of Fastweb (57.5), TIM (50.5), WindTre (49.5) and Iliad (37.4).
