Spain eSIM guide: who needs one, prices, local SIMs and networks

This page gathers everything eSIM Check has published about staying connected in Spain: our price survey of eight travel eSIMs, including Vodafone Spain's own data-only eSIM for visitors, the prepaid and holiday offers of Orange, Vodafone, Movistar and DIGI, and the latest independent measurements of the Spanish networks. It is written for visitors from outside the European Union: if your SIM comes from an EU or EEA country, you already roam in Spain at home prices under the EU's roam-like-at-home rules, within your operator's fair-use limits, and you do not need an eSIM. Visitors from the UK, the US, Canada, Switzerland, North Africa, Latin America or the Gulf usually do. Every figure is dated, and every article links to its sources.

Key facts

  • On 26 October 2026, Orange Travel sold 10 days of unlimited Spain data for €21.99 and 30 days for €41.99 (discounts dated until 15 November 2026); Maya Mobile's global plan cost €16.99 for 7 days, with 5 GB a day at full speed.
  • Vodafone Spain sells its own data-only eSIM for visitors: 35 GB for 7 days at €15, or 140 GB for 30 days at €42, starting when you are in Spain.
  • In Opensignal's May 2026 Spain report, Movistar users averaged 96.7 Mbps download, Orange 66.8 Mbps and Vodafone 37.7 Mbps; DIGI had the fastest 5G (260.4 Mbps).
  • Spanish law requires prepaid SIM buyers to be identified with an identity document (Law 25/2007): bring your passport to an Orange, Vodafone, Movistar or DIGI shop.
