An eSIM for Egypt and Jordan has to solve one problem: most plans cover only one of the two countries. You can buy one regional eSIM for the Middle East, or two plans, one per country. For unlimited data, two plans cost less on 16 October 2026; for a light user, one regional plan does. Here is what each choice cost, with the networks you get on each side.

Key takeaways

  • Country plans stop at the border: eSIM Égypte says its eSIMs "will not work" outside Egypt, and Airalo's Egypt and Jordan plans each cover one country. Four regional plans we checked cover both, from Airalo, Holafly, Yesim and Nomad.
  • For unlimited data, two country plans cost less than one regional plan on 16 October 2026: 7 days in Egypt and 3 in Jordan came to €42 with Airalo and Holafly, or €45.50 with eSIM Égypte and Holafly, against €48 to €60.25 for 10 days of regional unlimited data.
  • One regional eSIM wins for light users and for simplicity: Nomad's Middle East and North Africa plan sold 10 GB valid 30 days in both countries for €22.31, on Orange in Egypt and Umniah in Jordan.

Does an Egypt eSIM work in Jordan?

No: a country eSIM for Egypt stops working when you reach Jordan, and the reverse is true too. The Egypt specialist eSIM Égypte says in its FAQ that its eSIMs "are designed specifically for Egypt" and "will not work (or will work with very reduced speeds) in other countries", and that a multi-country trip needs "a different eSIM for each destination".

The big brands draw the same line. Airalo's plan data lists a single country for its Egypt eSIM, which "operates on the Vodafone network in Egypt", and a single country for its Jordan eSIM, which runs on Zain. Holafly sells separate Egypt and Jordan plans, and a separate Middle East plan for travellers who cross borders.

So the choice is real: either a regional plan that lists both countries, or two country plans and a switch of data line at the border. Your home operator's roaming is a third route; our guide to roaming charges to check before travelling explains what to look for in your contract.

Which eSIMs cover both Egypt and Jordan?

Four regional plans we could verify list both countries: Airalo's Middle East and North Africa plan, Holafly's Middle East plan, Yesim's Middle East plan and Nomad's MENA plan. They differ on the number of countries, on whether "unlimited" exists, and on the network you get in each country. All four were read on their own pages on 16 October 2026.

Regional plan (checked on 16 October 2026)CountriesNetworks: Egypt / JordanUnlimited data?
Airalo Middle East and North Africa13, including Morocco, Tunisia and the GulfOrange and Vodafone / ZainYes: 3 GB a day, then 1 Mbps
Holafly Middle East11, including Turkey, Cyprus and ArmeniaNot publishedYes
Yesim Middle East9, including Morocco and Turkeye& (Etisalat) and Orange / ZainYes
Nomad MENA10, including Israel and TunisiaOrange / UmniahNo, fixed data only

The networks for Airalo come from the plan data listed by the comparison database esimdb, as Airalo's own regional page does not name them per country. Holafly's Middle East page names no networks at all. The comparison database esimdb counted 4,234 plans that appear in both its Egypt and its Jordan lists on 16 October 2026, from 184 providers, so smaller brands offer more choice; we leave them out because we could not verify them on their own pages.

One regional eSIM or two separate ones: what costs less?

For unlimited data, two country plans cost less than every regional plan we checked, by €1.60 to €27 depending on the trip and the pair. We priced the two most common shapes of an Egypt and Jordan trip with the providers' own prices of 16 October 2026.

A week in Egypt, then three days in Jordan

Option (unlimited data)Egypt, 7 daysJordan, 3 daysTotal
Airalo Egypt + Holafly Jordan€29.50€12.50€42.00
eSIM Égypte + Holafly Jordan€33€12.50€45.50
Holafly Egypt + Holafly Jordan€33.90€12.50€46.40
Airalo Middle East and North Africa, 10 daysOne eSIM for both€48.00
Holafly Middle East, 10 daysOne eSIM for both€51.90
Yesim Middle East, 10 daysOne eSIM for both€60.25

If three days in Jordan are mostly maps and messages, a fixed plan trims the bill further: Airalo's 3 GB for 3 days in Jordan costs €10.50, which brings the eSIM Égypte combination to €43.50 and the Airalo pair to €40.

Ten days in Egypt, then five days in Jordan

Option (unlimited data)Egypt, 10 daysJordan, 5 daysTotal
Airalo Egypt + Holafly Jordan€32.50€19.50€52.00
eSIM Égypte + Holafly Jordan€36€19.50€55.50
Holafly Egypt + Holafly Jordan€36.90€19.50€56.40
Airalo Middle East and North Africa, 15 daysOne eSIM for both€73.00
Holafly Middle East, 15 daysOne eSIM for both€76.90
Yesim Middle East, 15 daysOne eSIM for both€79.00

The longer the trip, the wider the gap: on two weeks, the cheapest pair saves €21 on Airalo's regional plan. Regional plans charge for every day at a regional rate, while the country plans charge the lower Jordan rate only for the days you spend there.

When one eSIM is the better deal

  • Light users: Nomad's MENA plan sold 10 GB valid 30 days for €22.31, usable in both countries, with no second installation. Airalo's regional plan sold 10 GB for 30 days at €28.
  • Heavy users who want one installation: Airalo's regional unlimited plan gives 3 GB a day at full speed in both countries; it is the only regional plan here that publishes a daily full-speed figure, as Holafly and Yesim give none.
  • Longer multi-country trips: if Egypt and Jordan are two stops among several, a regional plan that also covers the Gulf, Turkey or the Maghreb avoids buying a third or fourth eSIM.

For the Egypt side alone, our comparison of the cheapest Egypt eSIMs per day and per gigabyte lists more lengths, and our best eSIM for Jordan guide does the same for Jordan.

Where does eSIM Égypte fit in an Egypt and Jordan trip?

eSIM Égypte fits the Egypt half of a two-plan trip: paired with Holafly for Jordan, it costs less than every regional unlimited plan we checked, but slightly more than Airalo's Egypt plan. It is an Egypt specialist and a partner of this site, so we hold it to the same numbers as the others. It sells unlimited Egypt plans only: 7 days for €33, 10 days for €36, 15 days for €46, prices read on its own site on 16 October 2026.

Pros

  • Cheaper than a regional plan: with Holafly for Jordan, €45.50 for 7 plus 3 days against €48 to €60.25 for 10 days of regional unlimited data, and €55.50 for 10 plus 5 days against €73 to €79.
  • Three Egyptian networks: Vodafone, Orange and e&, where Airalo's Egypt plan names Vodafone only and the regional plans name one or two.
  • Hotspot on every plan and a clock that starts at the first Egyptian connection, so it can be installed at home with the Jordan eSIM.
  • Cheaper than Holafly's Egypt plan at every length: €33 against €33.90 for a week.

Cons

  • Not the cheapest Egypt half: Airalo's Egypt plan costs €3.50 less for both 7 and 10 days.
  • The smallest daily allowance: about 1 GB a day at full speed, then 512 kbps, against 3 GB a day at Airalo and on its regional plan.
  • Above the market median: on esimdb on 16 October 2026, the median 7-day Egypt plan with at least 1 GB a day cost €24.71 and the median 10-day plan €32.03.
  • Egypt only, and no top-up: it does nothing for the Jordan days, and an active plan cannot be extended.

Verdict: eSIM Égypte suits a traveller who wants unlimited data and a choice of three networks in Egypt, plus a separate Jordan plan, and who uses moderate data. Our best eSIM for Egypt guide compares it with every other Egypt plan.

When should you switch lines between Egypt and Jordan?

Switch your data line when you arrive in the second country, not before, because country plans start counting days on their first connection. eSIM Égypte counts "the first connection to Egyptian network, even if it's a transit at the airport", so keep the Egypt line off until your Egypt stay begins. Airalo calls its policy "first-usage", and Nomad and Yesim also start on connection.

Travellers who cross by sea do so between Aqaba in Jordan and Nuweiba in Egypt's Sinai. The operator AB Maritime, founded in 1985 by the governments of Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, advertises regular daily passenger crossings on the Aqaba to Nuweiba route and tourist group transfers between Aqaba and Taba. On a sea crossing, wait until you have landed to switch lines.

On the Sinai side, eSIM Égypte lists the Sinai interior among its weaker areas, and our guide to Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab and the Sinai covers what is known about the coast. A regional plan avoids the switch altogether, which is its main practical advantage.

Can your phone hold an Egypt eSIM and a Jordan eSIM?

Yes: install both before you leave, and turn each one on in its own country. Phones store several eSIM profiles, and Apple's dual SIM page says that iPhone 13 models and later can keep two eSIMs active at once. Only one line carries data at a time, so you choose the Egypt or the Jordan eSIM as the data line in settings.

Three practical steps help:

  • Label the lines "Egypt" and "Jordan" when you install them, so you pick the right one on arrival.
  • Keep data roaming on for the travel eSIM only, and off for your home line, to avoid roaming charges.
  • Check compatibility first on our list of eSIM-compatible phones, for example the iPhone 17 range, and make sure the phone is unlocked.

Our guide to running two travel eSIMs at the same time covers the settings in detail, and the Egypt eSIM installation guide shows the iPhone, Pixel and Samsung menus. If a line stays on "Activating", see our fixes for an eSIM stuck on activating.

Which network will you get in each country?

In Jordan, almost every plan uses Zain; in Egypt, it depends on the plan, and none of the plans in this guide names WE, Egypt's fastest network. Each operator measures differently, so the network matters as much as the price.

In Egypt, Opensignal's February 2026 report measured average downloads of 25.5 Mbps on WE, 17.3 Mbps on Vodafone, 16.4 Mbps on e& and 13.8 Mbps on Orange. Airalo's Egypt plan uses Vodafone, Nomad's MENA plan uses Orange, Yesim's Middle East plan names e& and Orange, and eSIM Égypte names Vodafone, Orange and e&.

In Jordan, Opensignal's July 2026 report measured 29.8 Mbps on Umniah, 26.0 Mbps on Zain and 24.2 Mbps on Orange, with Zain scoring highest for coverage. Holafly's Jordan plan, Airalo's Jordan and regional plans and Yesim's regional plan use Zain there; Holafly's Middle East plan names no network, and Nomad's MENA plan is the exception, on Umniah. Our guide to Zain, Orange and Umniah at Petra and Wadi Rum explains what that means outside Amman.

Is a local SIM an alternative in either country?

In Jordan it is a strong one for heavy users, as long as you show a passport; in Egypt the rules for foreigners are stricter. None of the travel eSIMs in this guide includes a local phone number, and local lines do.

Jordan's operators sell visitor lines with large allowances. On 16 October 2026, Umniah sold a 10-day visitor line with 35 GB for JD 7 in its online store, as a SIM or an eSIM, and said that "a passport is required to activate the package"; its 30-day line (100 GB, JD 17.07) is also sold at Queen Alia airport. Orange sold 30 GB for 10 days at JD 10 and says its visitor eSIM can be bought before the trip. With the dinar pegged at about 0.709 to the US dollar, JD 7 is roughly $9.90, far less than any Jordan travel eSIM with that much data.

In Egypt, the regulator's sales rules ask a foreign customer to visit an operator branch in person with an original passport and a residency document. The offers, prices and the 90-day rule for foreign phones are covered in our guide to what Vodafone Egypt and the other operators sell to tourists. That makes a travel eSIM the simpler choice for the Egypt half, while a Jordanian visitor line is worth comparing for a longer Jordan stay.

Which option fits your trip?

Two country plans for unlimited data, one regional plan for light use or for simplicity. In short:

  • You want unlimited data at the lowest price: Airalo for Egypt and Holafly for Jordan.
  • You want unlimited data and three networks in Egypt: eSIM Égypte for Egypt and Holafly for Jordan, still cheaper than any regional unlimited plan we checked.
  • You use little data: Nomad MENA, 10 GB for €22.31 across both countries.
  • You want one installation and plenty of data: Airalo's regional unlimited plan, at a premium of €6 to €21 over the cheapest pair.

How we compared

We read every price on the provider's own page, or in the plan data that page embeds, on 16 October 2026, in the currency the provider sells in: all the plans in this guide are sold in euros. We recorded the countries each regional plan lists and, where published, the network used in Egypt and in Jordan. The market medians come from the esimdb database, with the same method as our other Egypt guides: Egypt-only plans with at least 1 GB a day at full speed, promotions included, dollar prices converted at the European Central Bank rate of 15 October 2026.

We did not buy the plans, cross the border or measure speeds ourselves. Ferry details come from the operator's own website. Prices change often, so check them again before you buy.
