Short answer: yes. The Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra and S26 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra and Z Flip8 all have eSIM, in every version Samsung sells, including Hong Kong (model numbers ending in 0) and, according to China Mobile (as reported by IT Home), the mainland China models. There is no Galaxy S26 Edge and no Z Flip8 FE. That is what Samsung's own eSIM device list says, checked on 28 October 2026 against Samsung's lists for eleven countries and its spec pages in Korea, Malaysia and Belgium.

This is a change. For older Galaxy S and Z models, Samsung's Hong Kong and Taiwan lists name nothing, so a grey-import S25 or Fold7 from Asia could arrive without eSIM. The 2026 models break that pattern. What still differs by region is the SIM layout: a European S26 has two nano-SIM slots plus eSIM, while the Korean and US versions have one slot. Below: the table, one section per model, the model numbers per region, and how to check your own phone. For older foldables and tablets, see our Fold, Flip and Tab guide.

Key takeaways

  • eSIM yes on every version: Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra (SM-S942/S947/S948 with suffix B, W, U, Q, N or 0), S26 FE (SM-S741B), Z Fold8 (SM-F971), Z Fold8 Ultra (SM-F976) and Z Flip8 (SM-F776).
  • SIM layout varies: European S26 models take nano-SIM + nano-SIM, nano-SIM + eSIM or two eSIMs; the foldables take one nano-SIM plus eSIM, or two eSIMs. Two lines are active at most.
  • Check your unit: Settings > About phone shows the model number; Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM proves the chip is there.

How to read the suffix: B is the international model (Europe, UK, India, Latin America, Gulf, South-East Asia), W Canada, U United States, Q Japan, N Korea, and a final 0 (SM-S9480, SM-F9710) Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China. Samsung still warns that “depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if your device is listed”, so the on-device check further down remains the final word. Our device pages keep the per-series details: Galaxy S26 series, Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip.

Galaxy S26 and S26+: eSIM in every version

Samsung unveiled the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra in February 2026, with pre-orders from February 25. All three appear as “Galaxy S26 / S26+ / S26 Ultra” at the top of Samsung's global eSIM list, without a regional note, and on every country list we read.

The SIM layout depends on where the phone was sold:

  • Europe and UK (SM-S942B, SM-S947B): Samsung Belgium states that the S26 series supports “nano-SIM + nano-SIM, nano-SIM + eSIM en Dual eSIM” (Samsung BE, 20 March 2026). Three UK lists the same for the S26 and S26+: “SIM 1: Physical nano-SIM card or eSIM”, “SIM 2: Physical nano-SIM card or eSIM”.
  • Korea (SM-S942N, SM-S947N): Samsung Korea's spec page gives “SIM 1 + eSIM / Dual eSIM”, so one nano-SIM slot.
  • United States (SM-S947U): Samsung US files the “Galaxy S26 series” under Hybrid eSIM devices, meaning a physical SIM plus an eSIM, and says only phones “unlocked by Samsung can support Dual Physical SIM”.
  • Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, China (W, Q, 0): on Samsung's lists with eSIM; Samsung's readable pages do not state how many nano-SIM slots these versions have.

Whatever the layout, two lines run at the same time at most.

Galaxy S26 Ultra: eSIM, including the China model

The S26 Ultra follows the S26 exactly. Three UK lists the S26 Ultra with two nano-SIM slots, either of which can be an eSIM; Samsung Korea's SM-S948N shows “SIM 1 + eSIM / Dual eSIM” in all three storage sizes.

What is new is China. Before launch, a model numbered SM-S9480 appeared in China's MIIT certification with an “independent eUICC chip” and eSIM compatibility, IT Home reported in January 2026. In July, China Mobile said it had adapted eSIM for the mainland versions of six Samsung phones: the Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, Z Flip8, S26 Ultra, S26+ and S26 (IT Home, citing China Mobile). You activate it in person at a China Mobile store with ID. We found no Samsung China page and no China Telecom or China Unicom statement, so for those two carriers, ask before you buy a plan.

The Hong Kong SM-S9480 is also on Samsung Hong Kong's list, a page Samsung marks “for Hong Kong products only”.

Galaxy S26 FE: yes; and there is no S26 Edge

Samsung announced the S26 FE on 27 August 2026, with sales from 4 September “in select markets”. Samsung's support pages give the model number SM-S741B (Samsung Levant). The FE sits in the “Galaxy S26 FE, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 FE” line of Samsung's global list, and in the S26 line of the Canadian, Mexican, Australian, Japanese and Taiwanese lists. Three UK gives the S26 FE the same layout as the S26: two nano-SIM slots, each usable as an eSIM. It is not on Samsung Hong Kong's list, and Samsung Hong Kong has no S26 FE page.

One caution: Samsung's press release says the “availability of LTE model varies by market”. Samsung does not say whether an LTE version would differ on eSIM, so check the unit if you are offered one.

Galaxy S26 Edge: Samsung has not released one. There is no Samsung press release, no S26 Edge page on any of the thirteen Samsung country sites we tried, and the eSIM lists stop at the “S25 Edge”. If a listing sells an “S26 Edge”, it is a mislabelled S26 or S25 Edge.

Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra: nano-SIM plus eSIM

Samsung launched two Folds this year: the wider Z Fold8 and the Z Fold8 Ultra, announced on 22 July 2026 and on sale from 7 August “in 106 markets” (Samsung). Both are on every Samsung eSIM list we read, and they are the first Folds on the Hong Kong and Taiwan lists.

Samsung's own FAQ on the Fold8 spec page is explicit: “Galaxy Z Fold8 supports Dual SIM with Nano-SIM and eSIM options. The listed SIM slot type is SIM 1 + eSIM / Dual eSIM. Configuration availability may vary by market, network operator and device variant.” The Fold8 Ultra page uses the same wording, and Samsung Korea lists “SIM 1 + eSIM / Dual eSIM” for both. Three UK puts it plainly for the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra: “SIM 1: Physical nano SIM card or eSIM”, “SIM 2: eSIM”.

So unlike the European S26, a Fold8 has only one nano-SIM slot. If you use two physical SIM cards today, one of them has to become an eSIM. Model numbers: SM-F971 for the Fold8, SM-F976 for the Fold8 Ultra, followed by B, W, U, Q, N or 0.

Galaxy Z Flip8: eSIM yes; no Flip8 FE

The Z Flip8 (SM-F776) carries the same FAQ on Samsung's spec page: “Dual SIM with Nano-SIM and eSIM options”, slot type “SIM 1 + eSIM / Dual eSIM”. Samsung Korea's SM-F776N shows the same. It is on Samsung's global, Canadian, Australian, Japanese, Taiwanese and Hong Kong lists, and China Mobile names it among the mainland models it activates.

Samsung US explains how to insert the SIM card on the “Galaxy Z Flip8”, but its Hybrid eSIM list still stops at the Flip7 and Flip7 FE, and at the Fold7. That is a page not yet updated, not a missing feature: the US models (SM-F776U, SM-F971U, SM-F976U) are sold by Samsung US and the foldables are on Samsung's Canadian list.

Galaxy Z Flip8 FE: it does not exist as of 28 October 2026. Samsung's July launch covered only the Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8, and Samsung's UK and Malaysian sites return no page for a Flip8 FE. The cheaper Flip is still the 2025 Z Flip7 FE, which is on Samsung's eSIM list.

Hong Kong, China, US, Japan, Korea: what changes

  • Hong Kong (SM-xxxx0, codes ending TGY): S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Flip8 are on Samsung's Hong Kong list. Samsung names 3HK, CMHK, HKT and SmarTone as carriers that may support eSIM.
  • Mainland China (SM-xxxx0, codes ending CHC): the same six models are supported by China Mobile, which activates eSIM in its own stores. Samsung lists China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom as possible eSIM carriers, but we found no confirmation for the last two.
  • Taiwan: Samsung Taiwan lists the S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, S26 FE, Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8.
  • United States (U): carrier and unlocked models. A carrier-locked phone only takes that carrier's eSIM until unlocked; see do you need an unlocked phone.
  • Japan (Q): Samsung Japan lists “S26 / S26+ / S26 Ultra/ S26 FE”, “Fold8 / Fold8 Ultra” and “Flip8”.
  • Korea (N): one nano-SIM plus eSIM, or two eSIMs, on every model.
  • India (B): Samsung India's spec pages show only the international B model numbers for the S26 and foldables, and Samsung India's list includes them. Unlike the Galaxy A37 and A36, there is no separate Indian E version; see our Galaxy A guide for those.

How to tell which version you have

  1. Read the model number. Open Settings > About phone (Samsung US, Samsung UK). It shows the model number, for example SM-S948B or SM-F9710. It is also on the box label. Compare the last letter or digit with the table.
  2. Look for Add eSIM. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If Add eSIM is there, the chip is present. On these models it should always be; if it is missing, the phone is likely carrier-locked or not what the seller claimed.
  3. Find the EID. Samsung UK: the EID is “on the box of your smartphone or in Settings > About phone > Status” (Samsung UK). A phone without eSIM has no EID. Dialling *#06# shows the IMEI and serial number; our EID guide has the other ways.
  4. Still no option? Follow our eSIM option missing fix, then contact the carrier that sold the phone.

eSIM plus nano-SIM: setting up dual SIM

All these phones run two lines at once: two eSIMs, or one eSIM plus one nano-SIM, and on the European S26 models two nano-SIMs too. You choose in SIM manager which line handles calls, texts and mobile data. A classic travel setup: home SIM for calls and texts, travel eSIM for data; see keep your number while travelling.

How many profiles can you store? Samsung says a Galaxy “can download up to 20 eSIM profiles”, fewer if the profiles are large, and that this is “distinct from the number of eSIMs that can be opened” (Samsung). Samsung does not publish a separate figure per model.

To add an eSIM, from Samsung's instructions: Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM > Scan QR code, or Enter activation code if you were given a code. To move your current line, tap the SIM in SIM manager, then Convert to eSIM > Convert eSIM, if your carrier allows it (conversion guide). Samsung lists EE, O2, Three, Vodafone and Sky in the UK, and AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon in the US, among carriers that may support eSIM. Smart Switch can also bring over “eSIM data” from your old phone, though Samsung notes that eSIM transfer availability “may vary by carrier” (Samsung); for Android-to-Android moves, see our transfer guide.

If a download fails, contact the carrier that issued the eSIM, not Samsung. Next step: browse the Samsung Galaxy page, the complete Galaxy model list, or the full list of eSIM devices.

How we checked

On 28 October 2026 we read Samsung's eSIM device lists for the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Mexico, India, Australia, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Model numbers come from the storage tabs of Samsung's spec pages in the UK, India, Mexico, Canada, the US, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. SIM layouts come from Samsung Korea's spec tables, Samsung Malaysia's foldable FAQs, Samsung Belgium and Three UK's device pages. Launch dates are from Samsung Newsroom. China facts come from IT Home's reports of MIIT and China Mobile, because Samsung China publishes no readable eSIM page.

What we could not verify: the number of nano-SIM slots on the Hong Kong, Chinese, Japanese and Canadian S26 (Samsung's spec tables there load by script), China Telecom and China Unicom support, and the US base S26 model number. Where Samsung does not say, we say so. Spot an error? Tell us and we will recheck.
