No for the Moto G17 and G17 Power, yes for the Motorola Edge 70, Edge 70 Pro, Edge 70 Plus, Edge 70 Fusion and Fusion+, no for the Edge 70 Max, yes for the Moto G35, G55, G56, G75, G85, G86, G57 Power, G67, G77 and G87, no for the Moto G05, G15, G37 and G47, and no for the older Edge 20 Lite and Moto G20. Those answers come from the SIM line of each phone's technical specifications on motorola.com, read on 27 October 2026: the moto g17 page lists "Dual SIM (2 Nano SIMs + 1 microSD)", while the motorola edge 70 page lists "Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + eSIM)".
The naming is the trap. A Moto G17 sits next to a G57 Power and a G67 on the same shelf, but only the last two have an eSIM chip. And the Edge 70 Max, with its 7,100 mAh battery, is the one Edge 70 that takes two plastic SIM cards and no eSIM. Below: the full table with sources, one section per model, how to tell which version you hold, and how to install the eSIM. For the wider brand picture, see our Motorola eSIM overview.
Key takeaways
- Moto G17 and G17 Power: no eSIM. Motorola lists two nano-SIM slots plus microSD in Europe and in Brazil (model XT2623-1).
- Edge 70, 70 Pro, 70 Plus, 70 Fusion: yes, one nano-SIM plus one eSIM. Edge 70 Max: no, two nano-SIMs on every European Motorola page.
- Moto G with eSIM: G35, G55, G56, G75, G85, G86, G57 Power, G67, G77, G87. Without: G05, G06, G15, G17, G37, G47 and their Power versions.
The answer, model by model
Every line below comes from Motorola's own product pages. Where Motorola sells a phone in Brazil, its store also prints the "XT" model number, which we include because it is the most reliable way to identify a variant.
| Model | eSIM | Which versions / regions | Model number | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Moto G17 | No | All versions listed by Motorola (Europe, Brazil) | XT2623-1 (Brazil) | motorola.com, motorola.com.br |
| Moto G17 Power | No | Europe | Motorola does not state it | motorola.com |
| Motorola Edge 70 | Yes | Europe and Brazil: 1 nano-SIM + 1 eSIM | XT2601-3 (Brazil) | motorola.com, motorola.com.br |
| Motorola Edge 70 Pro | Yes | Europe: 1 nano-SIM + 1 eSIM | XT2607-1 (Brazil) | motorola.com |
| Motorola Edge 70 Plus | Yes | 1 nano-SIM + 1 eSIM; Motorola footnote: "Varies by market" | Motorola does not state it | motorola.com |
| Motorola Edge 70 Fusion | Yes | Europe and Brazil: 1 nano-SIM + 1 eSIM | XT2605-3 (Brazil) | motorola.com |
| Motorola Edge 70 Fusion+ | Yes | Sold in Brazil; not on Motorola's European sites | Motorola does not state it | motorola.com.br |
| Motorola Edge 70 Max | No | Europe (DE, FR, ES, IT, PL, UK pages): 2 nano-SIMs | Motorola does not state it | motorola.com |
| Moto G35, G55, G56, G75, G85, G86 | Yes | 1 nano-SIM + 1 eSIM | e.g. G86 XT2527-1, G56 XT2529-1, G35 XT2433-1 (Brazil) | G86, G56 |
| Moto G57 Power, G67, G77, G87 | Yes | 1 nano-SIM + 1 eSIM (+ microSD on G67/G77/G87) | Motorola does not state it | G87, G57 Power |
| Moto G05, G15, G37, G47 | No | 2 nano-SIMs | G05 XT2523-2, G15 XT2521-2 (Brazil) | G15, G37 |
| Motorola Edge 20 Lite | No | Hybrid: SIM 2 or microSD | XT2139-2 (Brazil) | motorola.com.br |
| Moto G20 | No | Hybrid: SIM 2 or microSD | XT2128-1 (Brazil) | motorola.com.br |
"Motorola does not state it" means the official page gives no model number for that market. It does not mean there is a hidden eSIM variant: we found none.
Moto G17: no eSIM, in any version Motorola sells
The Moto G17 exists: it is a 2026 budget phone with a 5,200 mAh battery, sold by Motorola in Europe and Brazil. It does not have eSIM. Motorola's specifications read:
- United Kingdom and Europe: "Dual SIM (2 Nano SIMs + 1 microSD)" on the moto g17 page.
- Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Poland: the same two nano-SIMs plus microSD, in each language (German page).
- Brazil: "Nano SIM (4FF) Entrada 1: Chip 1 | Entrada 2: Chip 2 | Entrada 3: SD Card", model XT2623-1.
The good news is that the G17 has three slots: you can use two physical SIM cards and a memory card at the same time. The bad news is that a travel eSIM or an eSIM-only plan cannot be installed. A software update cannot add the missing chip.
Moto G17 Power
Same answer. The moto g17 power page lists "2 Nano-SIMs + 1 microSD" in Germany, and the French, Spanish, Italian and Polish pages say the same. If you want a Motorola with a big battery and eSIM, the moto g57 power is listed with "Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + 1 eSIM)".
If you already own a G17 and need to travel, your options are a local physical SIM in the second slot, or a pocket hotspot. Our guide on keeping your number while travelling explains how to keep your home SIM active for calls and texts.
Moto G 2025β2026: which numbers have eSIM
There is no rule by price or by number. The G35, a cheap 5G model, has eSIM; the newer G37 and G47 do not. Read the line for your exact model:
| Model | eSIM | Motorola's SIM line |
|---|---|---|
| Moto G35 5G | Yes | Dual SIM (pSIM + eSIM) |
| Moto G55 5G | Yes | Dual SIM (1 physical Nano SIM + eSIM) |
| Moto G56 5G | Yes | Dual SIM (1 physical Nano SIM + eSIM + 1 microSD) |
| Moto G75 5G | Yes | Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + eSIM) |
| Moto G85 5G | Yes | Dual SIM (pSIM + eSIM) |
| Moto G86 5G | Yes | Dual SIM (1 pSIM + eSIM) |
| Moto G86 Power 5G | Yes | Dual-SIM (1x Nano-SIM + eSIM) |
| Moto G57 Power | Yes | Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + 1 eSIM) |
| Moto G67 | Yes | Dual-SIM (1 physische Nano-SIM + eSIM + 1 microSD) |
| Moto G77 | Yes | Dual-SIM (1 physische Nano-SIM + eSIM + 1 microSD) |
| Moto G87 | Yes | Dual-SIM (1 physische Nano-SIM + eSIM + 1 microSD) |
| Moto G05 | No | Dual-SIM (2x Nano-SIM) |
| Moto G06 / G06 Power | No | Dual SIM (2 Nano SIMs + 1 microSD) |
| Moto G15 | No | Dual SIM (2 Nano SIMs) |
| Moto G37 | No | Dual-SIM (1 Nano-SIM + 1 Nano-SIM) |
| Moto G47 / G47 Power | No | Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + 1 Nano SIM) |
| Moto G84 5G (Europe) | No | Hybrid Dual SIM (2 Nano SIMs/1 Nano SIM + 1 microSD) |
German-language quotes are from motorola.com/de when Motorola's UK page does not show the line; the configuration is identical across the European sites we checked. The G37 Power is listed with two nano-SIMs on the Polish page.
Two practical details
- On the G56, G67, G77 and G87 the microSD card has its own place: you keep one nano-SIM, one eSIM and a memory card together.
- Motorola writes "1 eSIM" and does not state how many eSIM profiles the phone can store. Plan on one active eSIM next to the physical SIM. Our article on eSIM profiles on Android explains the difference between stored and active.

Motorola Edge 70, Pro, Plus, Fusion and Fusion+: yes
All Edge 70 models except the Max combine one nano-SIM with one eSIM:
- Edge 70: "Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + eSIM)" on the Edge 70 page; Brazilian model XT2601-3 has "Nano SIM (4FF) | e-SIM".
- Edge 70 Pro: "Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + eSIM)" on the Edge 70 Pro page.
- Edge 70 Plus: "Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + eSIM)" on the Edge 70 Plus page, with footnote 9: "Varies by market. Check with your carrier or retailer for availability." This is the only Edge 70 where Motorola adds that warning to the SIM line, so check the box or the listing before buying from another country.
- Edge 70 Fusion: "Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + eSIM)" on the Edge 70 Fusion page; the FIFA World Cup 26 edition has the same line.
- Edge 70 Fusion+: sold by Motorola Brazil, where the product page says "SIM: Nano SIM + eSIM". Motorola's European sites do not list it.
For the foldables and the rest of the Edge range, see our Razr and Edge guide and the Edge series page.
Motorola Edge 70 Max: no eSIM
The Edge 70 Max does exist: Motorola sells it in Europe as the 7,100 mAh model of the family. Its SIM line is "Dual SIM (1 Nano SIM + 1 Nano SIM)" on the UK page, and the German, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish pages say the same. The German page does not contain the word "eSIM" at all.
If eSIM matters to you, the Edge 70 Pro or Edge 70 Plus are the Edge 70 models to look at. If you already have an Edge 70 Max, a second physical SIM is the way to add a travel or work line.
Edge 20 Lite and Moto G20: no
Both are 2021 phones. Motorola's European product pages are gone, but Motorola Brazil still publishes their specifications:
- Motorola Edge 20 Lite, model XT2139-2: "Nano SIM (4FF), Chip 1 / Chip 2 ou SD Card (HΓbrido)". Two nano-SIMs, the second slot shared with the memory card. No eSIM.
- Moto G20, model XT2128-1: "Chip 1 / Chip 2 ou SD Card (HΓbrido)". No eSIM.
Motorola does not mention eSIM for any version of either phone. If your Edge 20 Lite or G20 shows no "Download new SIM" option, nothing is broken: the hardware simply is not there.
How to tell which version you hold
Model names are reused across regions, so check the phone itself:
- Look for the eSIM menu. On Motorola phones the path is Settings > Network & internet > SIMs & mobile network > Download new SIM, as shown in AT&T's Motorola guide and Vodafone's moto g67 guide (Android 16). If "Download new SIM" is there, the phone has an eSIM chip.
- Find the EID. An eSIM phone has a 32-digit EID. Vodafone documents it for Motorola under Settings > About phone > Device details > EID (Vodafone UK, Edge 60 Pro, Android 15). Our EID guide has more ways to find it.
- Compare the model number. Motorola uses "XT" numbers. Compare the one on your box or listing with the table above; for example XT2623-1 is a Moto G17, which has no eSIM.
- Check the box or listing. "2 Nano SIM" means no eSIM. "Nano SIM + eSIM" means yes.
If the menu is missing on a model that should have eSIM, the cause is usually a carrier lock or a work profile: see why the eSIM option is missing. Our free app also reads the chip directly; the full list is on all compatible devices.
Install the eSIM and use it with your nano-SIM
Every eSIM Motorola in this article has one nano-SIM slot and one eSIM. You can keep your physical SIM for your main number and add the eSIM as a second line.
- Connect to Wi-Fi and get the QR code or activation details from your carrier.
- Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs & mobile network > Download new SIM > Set up an eSIM, and scan the QR code (steps per AT&T).
- Back in the SIM list, select the new eSIM and turn on "Use this SIM".
- Choose which SIM handles calls, texts and mobile data.
Where to get the eSIM:
- US: Verizon moves a line to eSIM in the My Verizon app ("Get SIM") with no fee; AT&T documents the Motorola eSIM steps in its device support pages.
- UK: EE handles it in the EE app (Manage > Mobile and SIMs); Vodafone UK in My Vodafone ("manage my SIM").
To move your existing number from a nano-SIM to eSIM, follow our SIM-to-eSIM guide. The activation itself is described step by step in our Android eSIM guide.
Next step: check the phone you actually have with our free app, or browse all Motorola models on the Motorola page.
How we checked
On 27 October 2026 we read the SIM line of the technical specifications on Motorola's product pages for the UK/Europe, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Poland, and on Motorola Brazil's official store, which also lists model numbers. Motorola publishes no single eSIM model list, so each model was checked on its own page. Menu paths come from carrier device guides (AT&T, Vodafone). Carrier policies come from each carrier's own help page. We did not use third-party spec databases.
Where Motorola does not give a detail (number of eSIM profiles, model numbers in Europe), we say so instead of guessing. If you spot a version that behaves differently, the app's check on your own phone is the final answer.
