vivo eSIM: V29, X300, S2 and which versions work

Short answer: the vivo X300, X300 Pro and X300 Ultra have eSIM in most markets but not in the versions vivo India and vivo Thailand list; the V29 has eSIM only in Europe and Latin America; the V50 and V60 only in some regions (and not in India); the vivo S2 and the Y21 have no eSIM at all. Those answers come from vivo's official list of eSIM phones and from the spec page of each model on 75 vivo country sites, read on 27 October 2026.

So when a listing says "global version, eSIM ready", the phrase is the seller's, not vivo's. vivo makes several versions of the same phone, and what counts is the version you hold. Below: a summary table, one section per model, the full list of vivo phones sold in India with eSIM, and how to check your own phone in two minutes.

Key takeaways

  • vivo X300 / X300 Pro / X300 Ultra: eSIM on most versions (SIM + eSIM or two eSIMs), but vivo's India and Thailand spec pages list two nano-SIMs only.
  • vivo V29, V50, V60, V70: eSIM only in the regions vivo names (Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Africa). None of the Indian versions has it.
  • vivo S2, S2 FE and Y21: no eSIM in any market. The Chinese versions (vivo.com.cn) are dual nano-SIM too.

vivo eSIM by model: the quick table

"Partial" means vivo sells versions with and without eSIM under the same name. vivo does not publish model numbers (V2xxx) on most spec pages, so the table shows them only where vivo prints one.

"Global version", Indian version, Chinese version: does it matter?

Yes, more than on most brands. vivo writes its spec sheets country by country, and the SIM line changes with the country. Three things we found on vivo's own pages:

  • vivo's "Global" site is not a guarantee. The global page of the X300 says "SIM1 + SIM2 / SIM1 + eSIM1 / eSIM1 + eSIM2". But the global page of the V29 says "2 nano SIMs" with the note "eSIM are supported only in Europe and Latin America". So a phone sold as "global" can still lack eSIM.
  • Indian versions often have no eSIM. vivo India lists the X300, X300 Pro and X300 Ultra with "2 nano SIMs (SIM1 + SIM2)" and writes "E-SIM: Not supported" for the V50, V50e, V60e and X200 FE.
  • Chinese versions have no eSIM on vivo.com.cn. The Chinese spec pages of the X300, X300 Pro, S20, S30 and S50 list the SIM type as "双nano" (dual nano-SIM) and do not mention eSIM.

A further twist: vivo's support FAQ, which vivo updates "without separate notice", sometimes lists carriers in a country whose spec page shows no eSIM. For the X300, X300 Pro and X300 Ultra it names Airtel, Jio, Vi and BSNL in India, plus carriers in Thailand and Indonesia, while those countries' spec pages list only two nano-SIMs. vivo does not explain the gap. If you hold one of those versions, check the phone itself (last section) instead of trusting either page.

Before buying an imported vivo: ask the seller which country the phone was made for, then open that country's vivo spec page. If the seller cannot tell you, assume no eSIM.

vivo X300, X300 Pro, X300 Ultra and X300 FE

X300 and X300 Pro: yes, except the Indian, Indonesian and Thai versions. On vivo's global, European, Latin American, Middle Eastern and most Asian sites, the X300 and X300 Pro pages say "SIM1 + SIM2 / SIM1 + eSIM1 / eSIM1 + eSIM2": two nano-SIMs, one nano-SIM plus one eSIM, or two eSIMs at once. The Indian, Indonesian and Thai pages list "2 nano SIMs" only, and the Myanmar page does the same for the X300 Pro.

X300 Ultra: yes, except the Indian and Thai versions. Its global page gives the same three combinations; the Indonesian page includes eSIM, the Indian and Thai pages do not.

X300 FE: only some versions. The spec pages show eSIM in India ("E-SIM: Supported"), Russia and Spain. The European, Malaysian, Philippine, Saudi and Singapore pages list "2 nano SIMs", but vivo's FAQ lists eSIM carriers in 16 markets, including those. vivo also sells the phone in Brazil as the "JOVI X300 FE", with eSIM on Claro, TIM and Vivo.

Dual SIM on the X300 family: two eSIMs can be active together on the versions that list "eSIM1 + eSIM2". On older vivo models, vivo's FAQ says you choose SIM1 + SIM2 or SIM1 + eSIM, "not SIM1+SIM2+eSIM", but you can store several eSIM profiles and switch between them. vivo does not publish a maximum number of profiles.

X500 series: the newest models are not yet in vivo's FAQ list. On 27 October 2026, the Russian and Spanish pages of the X500 Pro and Pro Max mention eSIM; the Austrian and Polish pages list two nano-SIMs. Check again before you buy.

vivo V29: Europe and Latin America only

vivo's global V29 page lists "2 nano SIMs" and adds that "NFC-eSE and eSIM are supported only in Europe and Latin America". The European page confirms: "Dual Nano SIM (SIM 1 + SIM 2) or Single Nano SIM + eSIM". So a European V29 runs one nano-SIM plus one eSIM, not two physical SIMs plus an eSIM.

vivo's carrier table for the V29 names carriers in Spain, France (Bouygues Telecom, Orange, SFR, Free), Germany, Italy, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania, Turkey and Chile.

The Indian V29 and the versions on vivo's Philippine, Singapore, Russian, Kazakh, Kenyan and North African sites list two nano-SIMs and no eSIM. The cheaper V29e has no eSIM in any market we checked. The V29 Lite 5G is a different phone: its page says "eSIM: Supported only in Europe".

vivo V50, V60 and V70: depends on the region

V50: vivo's list says "Only supported in some regions". Its carrier table covers Hungary, Spain, Italy, Czechia, Austria, Portugal, Colombia, South Africa, Egypt, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The Indian V50 says "E-SIM: Not supported". The V50e has eSIM only in Europe (Germany, Austria, Hungary in vivo's table); the Indian V50e says "Not supported".

V60: "Only supported in Middle East and Africa". The global page reads "Saudi Arabia, UAE, Nigeria, Kenya: 2 nano SIMs (eSIM supported)", and the FAQ adds Tanzania, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. The Indian, Malaysian, Philippine and other Asian V60s have two nano-SIMs only. The V60 Lite 5G has eSIM in Poland, Spain and Italy; the Indian V60e says "Not supported".

V70 and V70 FE: "Only supported in some regions". The V70 table covers much of Europe, Latin America, the Gulf, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar. In Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru, vivo also sells a "SIM ΓΊnica" version for Telcel or Claro; the page marks only the dual-SIM version "compatible con eSIM". The Indian V70, V70 FE and V70 Elite list two nano-SIMs.

Which vivo phones sold in India support eSIM?

From vivo India's own spec pages on 27 October 2026:

Indian modeleSIM (vivo India page)
X300 FEYes ("E-SIM: Supported")
X200TYes (SIM + eSIM or two eSIMs)
X200 Pro, X200Yes
X Fold5, X100 Pro, X90 ProYes
V80Yes (SIM + eSIM or two eSIMs)
X300, X300 Pro, X300 Ultra, X Fold6Not listed (2 nano-SIMs)
X200 FE, V50, V50e, V60eNo ("Not supported")
V70, V70 FE, V70 Elite, V60, V29, V29e, S2, S2 FE, Y21 5GNo (2 nano-SIMs)

Airtel, Jio, Vi and BSNL are the carriers vivo names for India. Airtel gives the vivo path Settings > Network & Internet > SIM card & mobile network > eSIM > + Add eSIM. Jio's vivo guide asks you to SMS "GETESIM" followed by your 32-digit EID and 15-digit IMEI to 199 (+917018899999 from abroad), then confirm by SMS and phone call. Jio warns that SMS stays off for 24 hours after activation.

vivo S2: no eSIM

The only vivo phone called "S2" is the vivo S2 sold in India (OriginOS 6, Android 16, Dimensity 7360-Turbo). Its spec page says "Card Slot: 2 nano SIMs" and "5G + 5G Dual SIM Dual Standby", with no eSIM line. The S2 FE is the same: two nano-SIMs.

If you meant a Chinese S-series phone: the S20, S30 and S50 list "双nano" (dual nano-SIM) on vivo.com.cn and no eSIM. No S model appears in vivo's eSIM list. We found no vivo watch called S2.

If you need a travel eSIM on an S2, there is no software fix: the chip is not there. Keep a physical local SIM, or see our eSIM guide for other Android brands for affordable phones that have eSIM.

vivo Y21: no eSIM (but the Y31 5G has it in Europe)

The vivo Y21 lists "2 nano SIMs + 1 micro SD" on every vivo site where it still has a page, from Europe to Russia and Kenya; the Y21 5G lists "1 nano SIM + 1 nano SIM / microSD". Neither mentions eSIM, and neither is in vivo's eSIM list.

One exception in the Y series: vivo's list now includes the Y31 5G, with eSIM carriers in Poland, Spain, Italy, Czechia, Hungary and Austria. So "vivo's Y series has no eSIM" (as older articles, including our 2026 vivo overview, put it) is no longer quite right.

How to check your own vivo in two minutes

  1. Look for the eSIM option. vivo's FAQ gives the path Settings > Network & internet > SIM card & mobile network; an eSIM-capable phone shows an eSIM entry with an "Add" button there. No eSIM entry usually means no eSIM chip.
  2. Find the EID. Dial *#06#, or go to Settings > About phone > Status (path given by Airtel). A 32-digit EID means the phone has an eSIM chip. Our EID guide has the steps for other brands.
  3. Check which version you hold. Settings > About phone shows the model name. vivo does not print model numbers on most spec pages, so the country of sale (box, invoice, preinstalled apps, warranty card) is the more useful clue. Then open that country's vivo spec page.
  4. Activate. Tap Add next to eSIM and scan your carrier's QR code. In vivo's words, you "scan the qr code to download" the profile. To move an eSIM to a new phone, vivo says to contact your carrier.

If the eSIM entry is missing on a model that should have it, see why the Add eSIM option is missing. To switch your number from a plastic SIM, see how to convert a SIM to eSIM. Travelling? Read how to keep your number with a travel eSIM. The free eSIM Check app also reads the chip directly.

How we checked

On 27 October 2026 we read vivo's support FAQ "Which vivo phones support eSIM?" and its per-model carrier tables. We also read the spec page of 46 vivo models on each of vivo's 75 country sites, plus vivo.com.cn for China, and noted the exact SIM wording. Carrier sources: Airtel, Jio and CelcomDigi. Where vivo's spec pages and its FAQ disagree, we say so rather than pick one.

vivo changes these pages without notice, especially for new models (X500, V80). Next step: check your exact model on our vivo page or in the full list of eSIM phones.
