Honor X9d eSIM support: which versions have it?

Does the Honor X9d support eSIM? Honor's list says yes, its spec sheets say two nano-SIMs. X9c, X8c, X6c, Magic 8 Lite, 400 Pro checked.

Honor X9d, X9c and X8c: on Honor's eSIM list, but every Honor spec sheet we read (Global, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, Malaysia and more) shows two nano-SIMs and no eSIM, so check your EID; Magic 8 Lite (European versions) and Honor 400 Pro: yes; X6c, X5c, Honor 70, 70 Lite and Magic 5 Lite: no.

We checked each phone on Honor's own sites, country by country, on 27 October 2026. Where Honor sells no version in a country, such as the X9d in India or the UK, we say Honor does not state it rather than guess. The fastest way to settle it for your phone is the EID test in Settings > About phone, explained below.

Key takeaways

  • Honor's eSIM page lists the X9d, X9c and X8c, but warns eSIM depends on the country of origin, and none of 51 regional spec sheets for these three phones shows an eSIM.
  • The Magic 8 Lite (Europe) and Honor 400 Pro have eSIM: SIM 2 is either a nano-SIM or an eSIM, and only one eSIM is active at a time.
  • No EID in Settings > About phone means no eSIM chip, says Honor support: the X6c, X5c, Honor 70, 70 Lite and Magic 5 Lite have nano-SIM slots only.

Which Honor X models support eSIM?

Two different Honor sources answer this question, and they disagree. Honor's eSIM page (updated 7 May 2026) lists the X9d, X9c and X8c as eSIM phones, with one caveat: "Depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if your device is listed above." Honor's own specification sheets, country by country, show only two nano-SIM slots for those three phones. The table gives both, so you can see exactly where each answer comes from.

For every other Honor phone, our Honor eSIM model list and the broader article Honor eSIM support: which models really work cover the Magic, Magic V and number series.

Does the Honor X9d support eSIM?

The Honor X9d is the model most people ask about, and the honest answer is that Honor has not shown us a version with eSIM. Its global eSIM page puts "HONOR X8c / HONOR X9c / HONOR X9d" in its list of eSIM devices and even in the list of phones that support eSIM Transfer. Honor Malaysia's eSIM guide, dated 10 September 2026, repeats that list.

The specification sheets tell a different story. On the global X9d spec page, the SIM section reads "SIM Card 1: Nano SIM card" and "SIM Card 2: Nano SIM card". The word eSIM does not appear anywhere on the page. We found the same two lines on the X9d pages for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Iraq, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Australia, Ireland, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Compare that with phones that do have eSIM: their pages say "Nano SIM card/eSIM" for SIM 2.

What about India, the UK, France, Germany and Spain?

Honor's UK, French, German, Spanish and Indian sites have no X9d page at all, so Honor does not state what an X9d sold there contains. On those European sites Honor sells the Magic 8 Lite, and that phone does have eSIM (see below). Honor also does not publish X9d model numbers, so we cannot tell you which code corresponds to an eSIM version.

What this means for you

Treat the X9d as "no eSIM" unless your own phone proves otherwise. Honor itself gives the test: if Settings > About phone does not show an EID, "this feature is not supported on your phone" (Honor support). The X9d ships with MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15, according to its spec page.

Does the Honor X9c support eSIM?

The X9c is in exactly the same position as the X9d. It appears on Honor's eSIM list, with the same "country of origin" warning. Every X9c spec sheet we read lists "SIM Card 1: Nano Card" and "SIM Card 2: Nano Card", with no eSIM: Global, Ireland, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Africa, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. The X9c launched with MagicOS 8.0 (Android 14).

Honor's India site has no X9c page (it lists the Honor 90, X7c 5G and X9b), and neither do the UK, French, German or Spanish sites. So for an X9c bought in India, Honor does not state whether it has eSIM. The only reliable check is the EID test described below.

Is the Magic 7 Lite the same phone?

Honor does not say whether the Magic 7 Lite and the X9c share hardware, so we will not assume it. What we can say: the Magic 7 Lite's UK spec page lists eSIM, with the note "For Dual SIM model, SIM Card 2 can be set up as eSIM or nano card". If your box says Magic 7 Lite, you have eSIM; if it says X9c, check the EID.

Honor X8c, X6c and X5c: eSIM or not?

The Honor X8c is the third X model on Honor's eSIM list, and again its spec sheets (Global, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Ireland, Pakistan, the Philippines, Nigeria, Kazakhstan) list two nano-SIM slots and no eSIM. Same advice: check for an EID before buying an eSIM plan.

The cheaper X models are a clear no. The Honor X6c has one nano-SIM slot and a second slot that takes either a nano-SIM or a microSD card. The Honor X5c has two nano-SIM slots. Neither phone is on Honor's eSIM list, and neither spec page mentions eSIM, in any of the countries we checked (including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Pakistan and South Africa for the X6c).

If you need eSIM on a budget, our guide to eSIM on budget Android phones and the Galaxy A list show phones in the same price range where eSIM is confirmed.

Honor Magic 8 Lite and Magic 5 Lite

Yes. The Magic8 Lite UK spec page lists "SIM Card 1: Nano SIM card" and "SIM Card 2: Nano SIM card/eSIM". The French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Austrian pages say the same. In practice: one nano-SIM plus one eSIM, or two nano-SIMs.

We found no Magic 8 Lite page on Honor's Global, UAE, Saudi, Moroccan or Malaysian sites, so the phone appears to be sold in Europe only. For a unit imported from elsewhere, Honor does not state the SIM setup.

Honor Magic 5 Lite: no

The older Magic5 Lite lists "Nano Card" for both SIM slots on its UK, French, Spanish and Italian pages, and it is not on Honor's eSIM list. Two nano-SIMs, no eSIM.

Honor 400 Pro, Honor 70 and 70 Lite

Yes. The Honor 400 Pro spec page lists "SIM Card 2: Nano SIM card/eSIM", with the footnote: "For Dual SIM model, SIM Card 2 can be set up as eSIM or nano card; For Single SIM model, SIM Card 2 only support eSIM." The same wording appears on the UK, German, Spanish, Italian, Irish, UAE, Saudi, Malaysian and South African pages. Honor adds that "eSIM availability may vary depending on country and carrier".

Honor 70 and Honor 70 Lite: no

The Honor 70 lists nano-SIM slots only ("Nano Card", for both the dual-SIM and the single-SIM model) on all 11 country pages we read, from the UK to Morocco and Malaysia. The Honor 70 Lite has two nano-SIM slots. Neither is on Honor's eSIM list.

How to tell whether your Honor has eSIM

Because Honor's list and its spec sheets disagree for the X9d, X9c and X8c, the only proof is the phone itself. These checks take a minute and need no app.

  1. Look for the EID. Open Settings > About phone > EID. Honor's support article is explicit: "If the EID information is not displayed, it indicates that this feature is not supported on your phone." Honor Malaysia's guide adds that some phones show it under Settings > About phone > Status, as "EID" or "IMEI (eSIM)".
  2. Dial *#06#. According to the same Honor guide, a phone with eSIM shows a 32-digit EID on that screen, next to the IMEI numbers.
  3. Check the box. Honor's eSIM page says you can also find the EID on the box your phone came in.
  4. Open the SIM menu. Settings > Mobile network > SIM management. On an eSIM phone you can tap next to SIM 2 to add an eSIM. If there is no such option, see our guide when the Add eSIM option is missing.
  5. Read the spec page of the country where the phone was sold. Honor's own guide calls the official specs "often the most reliable way to confirm compatibility". Look at the SIM Card 2 line: "Nano SIM card/eSIM" means yes; "Nano SIM card" alone means no.

More ways to find the EID on any Android phone are in how to find your EID. If no EID appears, no software update or carrier can add eSIM later: it is a chip, not a setting.

Setting up an eSIM next to a nano-SIM

On the Magic 8 Lite, the 400 Pro, or an X model that does show an EID, Honor's support article describes the setup. Honor does not state which MagicOS version the steps were written for.

  1. Ask your carrier for an eSIM; you may need to give your EID.
  2. Go to Settings > Mobile network > SIM management.
  3. Tap next to SIM 2. The eSIM goes into the SIM 2 position by default. If a nano-SIM is already in slot 2, the phone asks you to disable it.
  4. Scan the QR code, pick a saved QR image from the gallery, or enter the activation code manually.

Honor's article says you can store several eSIMs (the limit depends on the chip; Honor does not give a number for these models), but "only one eSIM card can be used at a time". The usable combination is therefore one nano-SIM in slot 1 plus one active eSIM. Our article on how many eSIM profiles an Android phone can store explains the difference between stored and active profiles.

Carriers in the countries readers ask about

Honor's eSIM page lists these carriers as supporting eSIM: Maroc Telecom, Meditel and Orange in Morocco; du, Etisalat and Virgin Mobile in the UAE; stc, Mobily, Zain and others in Saudi Arabia; Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea in India; EE, O2, Three and Vodafone in the UK. Travelling to Morocco? Our Morocco eSIM guide compares local and travel eSIMs. To keep your home number while using a travel eSIM, read keep your number abroad.

If your Honor has no eSIM, a travel eSIM will not work on it: use a local nano-SIM in slot 2 instead.

How we checked

On 27 October 2026 we read Honor's global eSIM page, its Malaysian and Pakistani versions, and the specification page of each model on every Honor country site where it exists: 26 sites for the X9d, 16 for the X9c, 9 for the X8c, and 3 to 11 for the other models. For each we recorded the SIM Card 1 and SIM Card 2 lines. A model with no page on a country site (for example the X9d on Honor UK or Honor India) is reported as "Honor does not state it". Setup steps come from Honor's support article in English and its French, German and Spanish versions.

We did not test the phones. We used no third-party spec databases or shop listings, which is why we give no model numbers: Honor does not publish them for these phones. If Honor publishes a spec page showing eSIM for an X9d or X9c version, we will update this page. For the full list, see all eSIM-compatible devices; next step: confirm your EID, then pick a plan.
