What this means in practice
A cellular smartwatch is eSIM-only by construction: there is no room for a SIM tray. Setup happens in the phone's companion app, not on the watch, and the line is usually shared with the phone through carrier number sharing rather than being a separate subscription. GPS-only versions of the same watch have no modem and cannot take an eSIM.
